It seems too good to be true that the federal government will give you $8,000 to buy a first home. They will even give you $6,000 if this isn't your first home. The fine points are that you have to be under contract byt he end of April 2010 and you have to close by the end of July 2010. I have sold several houses this Spring using this program and it is the real deal.
Taking nothing away from this federal giveaway, the real reason to buy real estate now is not the $8,000 or $6,000 -- it is the phenominally low interest rates available. As the real estate market continues to improve, interest rates will go up and we will all wish we had bought right now.

Solar electricity is great!
The Summit Resort Group building has a new 9.2 Kilowatt Photovoltaic power system. It truely has been an adventure in a good sense. Stop in and see us and ask for a tour of the power of the future. The following is a list of some of its remarkable traits:
It is a $60,000 system that cost me $13,000 after the rebates.
It works even with 3 inches of snow on it.
It makes more juice than we use so Xcel buys the overflow from me.
It makes me happy when I see Xcel trucks.
It saves me close to $200 per month on power.
I feel part of the future and moving away from Coal power.
It takes 1 pound of coal to make a Kilowatt hour.
On sunny days my system makes 50 KWHs.
There are many other fun facts but the big one is, It is great fun to be the first one in town with a really cool thing.

Who Wants the Lakefront of Dillon Torn Down?
Craig Nelson and his Associate had a meeting last weekend with some of the Dillon lakefront real estate owners about a German-funded development project. This project would tear down the old condos on Lodgepole to the west of Lake Dillon Drive to create a new lakefront real estate development in Summit County.
So my questions are:
1. Do the people in the Town of Dillon want to be redeveloped?
2. How big a project would this be in terms of height and width?
3. What will ultimately decide the fate of the project?
We have all known for 30 years that someday new condos would replace old ones like what has happened in Vail. It might actually happen in our lifetime.
